Privacy and your consent
Short version. We collect your email address, only if you tick the box, and we use it to send you batch news and notes on raising kids in a digital age. Nothing else. You can leave at any time, and we will delete what we hold if you ask.
Who is responsible
Pøptj Toys, 550 5th St SW, Calgary, Alberta T2R 1K3, Canada. We are the data controller for everything on this page. Questions and requests go tohello@poptjtoys.ca.
What we collect
Your email address, through the waitlist form. Along with it we store the date and time you agreed, the wording you agreed to, and which page you were on. That record exists so we can show we had your permission, which Canada's anti-spam law requires us to keep.
We do not ask for your name, postal address, phone number or payment details. Purchases happen on Etsy, under Etsy's own privacy policy, not ours.
Why we collect it, and on what basis
To send you a welcome email, news about batches and drops, and articles about raising kids in a digital age, at no more than one email a week. We do this on the basis of your consent. We do not sell, rent, trade or share your email with anyone else, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
Your consent
The consent box on our form is never ticked for you. If you do not tick it, we do not store your email. This is express consent under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, and collecting it is covered by PIPEDA, the federal privacy law. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, it is also the lawful basis for processing under the GDPR.
The exact wording you agree to is: "Yes, email me about Pøptj drops and restocks, plus notes on raising kids in a digital age."
You can withdraw consent at any time. The unsubscribe link in every email does this on the spot. Withdrawing does not affect anything we did while your consent was in place.
Who handles it and where
Your email address is stored by MailerLite, our email provider, a company based in the European Union. That means it leaves Canada. If you accept the cookie banner, Google Analytics and the Meta pixel also process visit data, and both are based in the United States. Each of these companies acts on our instructions and under its own privacy terms.
How long we keep it
Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it. After that we delete it within 30 days. We keep the consent record for up to three years after you leave, because Canadian law expects us to be able to prove we had permission.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy in a plain format. You can also object to how we use it or ask us to pause. Email hello@poptjtoys.ca and we will answer within 30 days, and usually much sooner. There is no charge.
If you think we have got something wrong, you can complain to a regulator. In Canada that is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. In the EU it is the data protection authority in your country, and in the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office.
How to unsubscribe
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Use it and you are out straight away, and in every case within 10 business days. You can also email us and we will do it by hand.
Cookies and measurement
We use Google Analytics and the Meta pixel to count visits and see which pages people read. Neither one loads until you choose Accept on the banner. If you choose Decline, or ignore the banner, they stay off. Your choice is saved in your browser only. To change it, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will ask again.
Children
This site is for the adults who buy the toys. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us an email address, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and date the change. Last updated 21 September 2026.
